For defamatory Google reviews affecting a Portuguese business, the strongest files are calm, specific and lawyer-led. They do not attack every harsh phrase. They isolate the sentences that matter: false accusations of crime, unsupported allegations of professional misconduct, claims that no records support, personal information, threats, impersonation, coordinated review patterns or statements made by someone who appears not to be a customer.

That vocabulary can matter in serious files, but it should not be used casually in every commercial review dispute.

The first risk is overreaction: a public reply accusing the reviewer of lying, a demand letter full of unsupported criminal language, or a rushed Google report that says only 'defamation'. The safest public response is short, non-accusatory and privacy-safe: the business can say it cannot verify the described events in its records and invite the author to a private channel. A public response is not a pleading and should not reveal private facts. It should reassure future readers that the business takes concerns seriously, protects confidentiality and has a private verification channel. It should not call the reviewer a criminal, competitor, extortionist or fake customer unless the evidence is strong and counsel has approved the wording.

Management should also protect the internal file. Do not ask staff to mass-report the review with inconsistent explanations.
